A pioneering portrait of British-Asian life, Peter Smith’s warm and perceptive drama follows young engineer Shiv as he tries to build a future in 1970s Birmingham.

Dreaming of leaving factory work to start his own business, he navigates family expectations, romance and the racism of his adopted country. Shot on a tiny budget, A Private Enterprise finds humour and humanity in Shiv’s determination to make a place for himself in a changing city.
