Our Heavenly Bodies is an extraordinary German proto-documentary made in 1925 that harnesses the wonder of early cinema to explore no less than everything that was known about the universe at the time.

15 special effects experts and 9 cameramen were employed utilising innovative new animation techniques, historical documents and fictional re-enactments, prefiguring Carl Sagan, Brian Cox and Stanley Kubrick. Screening with live accompaniment by acclaimed pianist and keyboard player Matthew Bourne.

"Kornblum's film is a technical marvel, one that revels in the beauty and mysteries of the universe." — Science on Screen
