Leeds Young Film Festival 2026

Leeds Film awarded major BFI funding for multi-year expansion

Leeds Film has been awarded £580,000 in multi-year funding from the British Film Institute (BFI) National Lottery Audience Projects Fund to support ‘Leeds Film Expanded’ from 2026 to 2029.

The funding will support the development and delivery of Leeds International Film Festival, Leeds Young Film Festival, and the INDIs young audience initiative, alongside expanded work in accessibility, marketing, programming and community partnerships.

It will also support the growth of Leeds Film’s emerging programmers initiative, with a wider range of accessible opportunities available from 2027 for those interested in programming film for festivals.

The BFI has awarded a total of £9.25 million through the National Lottery Audience Projects Fund to support screen culture initiatives across the UK.

Leeds Film is part of Leeds Arts Events and Venues at Leeds City Council.
