Nicky is a freelance Community Music Worker who has delivered sessions and projects in a range of community and mental health settings, bringing people together to share the joy of music, creativity and playful self-expression.
As Nicky Bray’s Musical Menagerie, she is a humorous singer-songwriter with a visual, energetic and interactive performance style. She has also been part of the Leeds DIY and community music scene since the late 90s, playing in various bands and organising events enabling people to watch and perform music in a happy, safe and inclusive environment. These include songwriters’ night Tower Of Song, feelgood singalong night Risk A Verse, and family-friendly fundraisers.
Her love of international film stems from a wider passion for other languages and cultures. Since 2015 she has chaired the Committee for Foreign Language Assistants in Yorkshire, a voluntary body supporting young visitors from other countries who work in local schools.
