This workshop is in two halves, groups will be rotated so everyone gets to experience both activities and get a chance to build creativity, teamwork, and confidence both on and off camera.

Part one:
Step onto a set and form a small film crew. Using sea-life puppets, you'll learn basic camera skills to film a short underwater scene, taking turns to act and operate the equipment to capture the magic of the ocean.

Part two: Create your own digital content from idea creation to final edit. Learn how to come up with creative ideas, practice simple filming techniques using smartphones and edit using CapCut; cutting clips together, adding text, music and transitions to create a finished piece of content.

What to wear: For this workshop, please ensure that you are wearing comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little dusty or messy while working with props and moving around the set, such as an old T-shirt and leggings or jogging bottoms.

ABOUT MOVIE CLUB

Movie Club is all about hands-on filmmaking fun for young people (no parents allowed!!)) presented in partnership with Screen Yorkshire.

Designed especially for ages 8-13, each session combines awesome short film watching with exciting practical workshops hosted by industry professionals and supervised by the LYFF team. Workshops are booked individually, so children can join for just one session or take part in all three and stay for the whole day. Movie Club runs across two days, Wednesday 8 April and Thursday 9 April.

All Movie Club sessions include a 20 minute screening of short films before the workshop begins.
