The Days Off

Set in near-future Argentina, Lucila Mariani’s beguiling debut is a dreamlike coming-of-age story suspended between the everyday and the otherworldly.

As a solar eclipse approaches, lonely 12-year-old Bego spends her summer drawn into an online community devoted to ‘shifting’, entering alternate realities through dreams. Beautifully shot, this tender, ethereal film explores adolescent longing, loneliness and the desire to escape into somewhere or someone else.

"A very delicate coming-of-age film in which science fiction, the logic of dreams, and poetic cinema meet." — Shahran Morshed, International Cinephile Society
