Something sinister lies beneath the picture-perfect aura of a small community in this Italian horror thriller.

Director Paolo Strippoli will join us for a Q&A at the first screening of The Holy Boy on 8 November. Trying to run away from grief, a PE teacher takes a job in a gorgeous mountain village where everyone seems to get along. But it isn’t long before he uncovers the town’s strange rituals and their dire consequences on one particular teenager. The Holy Boy is a thought-provoking exploration of collective trauma and displaced grief from Paolo Strippoli.

"There’s a little bit of Carrie and The Omen here, a hint of The Village, and a nod... to restrained Scandi-horrors like Let the Right One In and The Innocents. But The Holy Boy is its own thing, maintaining its moral ambivalence even as it ramps up to a spectacular finale." — Jessica Kiang, Variety
