Ticket of No Return

Ulrike Ottinger’s wildly stylish feminist odyssey takes us through the cafés, nightclubs and queer spaces of West Berlin.

Tabea Blumenschein is unforgettable as an enigmatic woman who arrives in the city with one purpose: to drink, embarking on an increasingly strange tour of its nightlife and eccentric inhabitants. Dressed throughout in Blumenschein’s own extraordinary costumes, she drifts through Ottinger’s intoxicating vision of Berlin in a film of outrageous wit and visual invention.

"A dazzlingly strange odyssey through the streets of Berlin." — Phuong Le, Sight and Sound
