An inspiring journey, Future Council is a coming-of-age adventure which is the perfect jumping-off point for discussions with children about protecting our environment.

Eight kids take the ultimate school trip across Europe on a bus fueled by biofuel to challenge powerful leaders to take action for their future. In this rollicking, inventive documentary, director Damon Gameau accompanies the eight children, all from different backgrounds and countries around the world, to realise their mission: to understand the world’s current challenges and what can be done to protect their future.

Arrive before the film to have a go with our film-themed selfie shoot and stick around after the film to design-your-own popcorn boxes! Plus explore our VR Cinema at the National Science and Media Museum. Part of the LYFF Cine-Takeover at Pictureville, for Leeds Young Film Festival 2026.
