Henry Chaisson’s atmospheric debut set in a Gothic world is a claustrophobic descent into horror.

After receiving a mysterious phone call, sound engineer Joan (Sasha Frolova) returns to her father’s New England estate in the aftermath of a devastating fire, where her painter father lies in bed with severe burns, watched over by the crossbow-wielding housekeeper. Joan must trace a series of ghostly audio fragments to confront the unearthed demons of her family’s past.

"Recluse hits all the tropes that one expects to find in this type of horror film, yet it manages to push this story in a daring, disturbing new direction that uses sound as a superpower. It’s a hell of a directorial debut from Henry Chaisson." — Daniel Kurland, Bloody Disgusting
