"Yudo: The Way of the Bath is a very entertaining and heart-warming film with moments of pure comedy and moments of light reflection, and an impressive cast of excellent young and veteran actors." - Adriana Rosati, Asian Movie Pulse

Written by Kundō Koyama of Oscar-winning film Departures (a previous LIFF audience winner), Yudo: The Way of the Bath is a delightful and leisurely tale of a community trying to save its local 'sentō' or bathhouse. Shiro Miura returns to his hometown after his father’s death and decides to close the family business, Marukin Hot Springs. But when one day the boiler breaks and Shiro has to step in to help, he starts to discover how much the bathhouse means to its loyal customers. Winner of the audience award at the Far East Film Festival in Italy, Yudo: The Way of the Bath may be the relaxing cinematic break you need amid the busy schedule of LIFF 2023. Screening with short musical treat Sen Toe, set in a Japanese bathhouse and first screened at LIFF 2017.
