Descriptive Subtitles, Pay-What-You-Can

An expansive and essential documentary portrait of pioneering lesbian filmmaker Barbara Hammer.

Director Brydie O'Connor has crafted a film told through Hammer’s own voice and visual perspective, using a vast collection of unreleased archival material, audio interviews and some of Hammer’s own films, which number over eighty. A visually encapsulating and unique exploration of Hammer’s life, friendships, work, archive, and her ongoing cultural legacy.

"The sensitively composed, research-rich documentary fizzes with Hammer’s electric energy, sense of play and taste for jouissance." — Cassie Packard, Frieze
