Illusion of an Everlasting Summer

An extraordinary long form documentary filmed over 25 years by acclaimed photographer Alessandra Sanguinetti, Illusion of an Everlasting Summer traces the lives of two inseparable cousins.

The film starts in 1999 as the two girls are 8 and 10, tracing the years into adult and parenthood. The setting makes a striking visual backdrop as they live in remote farmland in the vast Argentine Pampas. Superlative cinematography and editing combine to create a profound film on time, memory and womanhood.

"Filming real women over three decades takes a lot of effort not to turn them into lab subjects or human guinea pigs. Filmmaker Alessandra Sanguinetti avoids that danger with the unwavering trust and love of all participants in The Illusion of an Everlasting Summer, which welcomes a new directing voice in Latin American cinema: artistic, sensitive, but also down-to-earth." — Lucy Virgen, Film Verdict
