Cynical best friends Enid (Thora Birch) and Rebecca (Scarlett Johansson) are proud social misfits, navigating post-graduation life whilst denouncing all things mainstream until Enid unexpectedly becomes fascinated by the life of a lonely middle aged record collector (Steve Buscemi). Soon their friendship is tested by the 'real world' and their plans for independence from their parents start to derail. A darkly comic look at small town American alienation, Terry Zwigoff and Daniel Clowes adapt Clowes' comic book with perfect deadpan humour and a classic soundtrack.

After the film, join local artist and Ghost World turbo-fan Jack Fallows as they take us on a visual journey of how the film gave birth to their career in comics and storytelling over two decades ago - from an angsty teen who couldn't relate to 99% of humanity to a professional cartoonist, illustrator, game designer and model-maker”. Or as Enid would call them, a "pseudo-bohemian loser".

This screening is in collaboration with our friends Hyde Park Picture House, a two screen, community-focused, independent cinema, screening the very best films from around the world.

Contains mention of sexual assault, some use of homophobic, ableist, antisemitic and racist slurs.
