When popular cheerleader Jennifer (Megan Fox) is sacrificed to Satan, she morphs into a killing machine with a taste for her male classmates. In collaboration with Hyde Park Picture house, we present a 15th anniversary screening of this modern cult classic. Directed by Karyn Kusama and written by Diablo Cody, this underappreciated horror has recently been reassessed for its feminist themes and queer representation.

FLASHING IMAGES Contains recreational drug use, mention of sexual assault, use of ableist slurs, strong gore.

We'll be joined before the film by the curator of Queer Fear Leeds Evangeline Spachis and horror journalist Amber T to discuss the reexamining of the film as a feminist and queer cult classic. We'll also be diving into the world of horror written by women and asking: why do teenage girls make such scary on screen characters?

This screening is in collaboration with our friends Hyde Park Picture House, a two screen, community-focused, independent cinema, screening the very best films from around the world.
