Audio Description

AD provides descriptions of visual information that is essential to a film’s plot and storytelling. This is organically interwoven with the film’s original soundtrack, so it doesn’t interfere with dialogue or significant sound effects and music. AD ensures that blind and partially sighted audience members can fully engage with and understand the visual aspects of a film. AD can be used by anyone who would benefit from this provision, including sighted audiences.

AD is played through dedicated headsets, rather than through the cinema’s main speakers. Headsets can be collected from the Box Office. These have a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, so customers are welcome to use their own preferred headphones or listening device.

These AD headsets can also be used to listen to an amplified version of the film’s soundtrack, which can support Deaf and hard of hearing audiences.

For AD screenings, headsets can be reserved in advance to guarantee availability for customer use. You can book an AD headset as part of the ticket booking process and collect it at the venue.
